Basic Math

This course offers students fundamental math skills as well as skills in basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Content covered includes computation skills, decimal, fractions, integers, square roots, percents, area, perimeter, volume and trigonometric ratios. Students will be given supplemental material that will allow them to practice various topics covered each night. It would be helpful to have a scientific calculator for the class.

Introduction to Powder Metallurgy Technology

Sponsored by the Community Education Council

This course will provide the student with the history, fundamental concepts and vocabulary associated with powder metallurgy. It will further acquaint him/her with the manufacturing procedures utilized within the various metal powder classification processes. The student will become familiar with methods of consolidation of metal powders into usable components as well as with the presses, furnaces and other equipment utilized. He/She will learn the basic design elements of Press-and-Sinter P/M parts and be able to do simple modifications to items making them acceptable for P/M manufacture. Certain related mathematical exercises that acquaint the student with procedures that are major parts of following courses are also a part of this course. Who should attend: anyone working in powder metallurgy desiring to learn and understand more about this very viable and ever-changing technology. This course is prerequisite to most subsequent courses within the powder metallurgy course program.

RX for Disaster Drug Awareness Program

The drug abuse epidemic that has now spread across all walks of life is affecting everyone from families, individuals, businesses and our social life as we know it. The St. Marys Police Department in conjunction with the St. Marys Youth Center and the Community Education Council of Elk and Cameron Counties will be presenting a look into what the world of drugs is all about? No one can bury their head in the sand and say this will not affect me! As it is affecting all of us now. This very informative program will be held at the St. Marys Youth Center, Erie Ave. on Monday, March 29th at 7:00 pm. This program is intended for an adult audience only and will last 90 minutes. The program will be both informative and open for discussion and questions.
