Fafsa Complettion Session ` Free

If you or someone you know is going off to college, this FREE session is for you. Bring the student and parent 2011 tax returns if completed or the 2010 if your 2011 tax returns are not done. In this FAFSA completion session you and your child can sit at a computer and actually complete the FAFSA with a little support from PHEAA. It's a hands-on event where people can leave knowing that the FAFSA is done. Instructed by Marian Hargrave, Regional Director of PHEAA. RSVP by January 23, 2012.

This session is scheduled at the CEC, January 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 and again at 5:00 pm to 7:00. Snow date will be February 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 and again at 5:00 pm to 7:00.

Resume Writing

Having a great resume on hand is one of the first steps to landing that job or being prepared when an unexpected job opportunity comes up. Everyone's resume should look different and will change based on the job it is for. This workshop will help you learn how to write the most effective resume to sell yourself. Gain and understanding of the different formats; see how to present how your experience meets the job qualifications; and compose the strongest cover letter. Participants will have hands-on and one- on-one instruction and walk away with a completed cover letter and resume. Participants should bring a thumb drive and current resume and application materials. This is a two-part workshop.

You can choose Tuesday, April 10th and 24th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm or
Monday, April 9th and 23rd from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Cost: $20.00

Introduction To Drawing
by local artist ~ George Hasselman

Have you always been interested in drawing,
but never knew where to start?

If so, then this course is the course for you. Learn to better appreciate the world around by gaining an understanding of drawing techniques and the basic principles of lighting, contrast, composition, and space. Drawing is therapeutic, relaxing, and a great hobby!

George Hasselman is a native of St. Marys. He studied Illustration at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design in Lancaster, PA from 2001 to 2004. George has been doing free-lance illustrative work throughout the area such as designing and crafting business logos, murals, portraits, landscapes, and abstracts for local merchants and patrons for the past seven years. He is currently seeking a degree in Business Administration from Penn State. George hopes to open his own studio in the near future where he cannot only continue to perfect his craft, but educate and instruct the community of the benefits of art.

Travel Spanish

Travel Spanish – A Functional and Conversational Approach

The Community Education Council in St. Marys will be offering a course in Travel Spanish. Business and leisure travelers and anyone who is interested in learning Spanish greetings, pleasantries, small talk and travel-related information is encouraged to register. The course will be taught by Jennifer (Yavorsky) Tamburlin who has studied Spanish for almost 20 years and has been teaching Spanish at SMASD for 9 years. The cost of the course and materials is $175.

"True Beginner Computer Classes"

These True Beginners classes will be offered at the Community Education Council in St. Marys. Payment is due one week before class begins, to confirm your seat.

Introduction to Basic Windows - You will learn to work with the computer desktop icons, mouse, keyboard and disk drives. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Fee: $15.00.

Introduction to Word - A True Beginners course that will enable you to become familiar with the Microsoft Program Word. You will be given instruction on the very basic aspects of the program starting with "How do I set up A new page?" through "How do I print my page?" 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Fee: $15.00.

Internet Basics and E-mail - In this course you will learn internet terminology, how to set up an e-mail account, how to send and receive e-mails with attachments and how to use an address book. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Fee: $15.00.
