Bradford, PA Highway Construction Travel Alert:

U.S. Route 219, the main north/south highway that runs through the City of Bradford, is

currently undergoing major rehabilitation and reconstruction that will take several years

to complete.  This four-lane highway has been reduced to two lanes (one in each direction),

with significant changes at the on- and off-ramps.

During summer 2007, northbound traffic entering Bradford from other Pennsylvania

locales in the south will be able enter and exit the highway normally.  To get to

Pitt-Bradford, just follow the signs and exit US Route 219 at the Elm Street exit.

Signage will direct you to Pitt-Bradford, which is located 1.5 miles from downtown Bradford on PA Rt. 346 West.

Southbound traffic entering Bradford on Rt. 219 from New York State, Erie PA, and Out of State locations in Northern Ohio and New England (includes those coming on I-86 to Rt. 219 South).

Southbound traffic that is entering Bradford from New York State, most exit ramps have been closed within the City of Bradford.  Hence we suggest you follow these directions to get to Pitt Bradford:

Traveling on Rt. 219 South, enter Pennsylvania from New York State and take the first Bradford exit at Foster Brook.  At the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto Bolivar Drive.  At the traffic light, turn left onto Seaward Avenue.  Follow Seaward Avenue for 0.4 miles and turn right onto Jackson Avenue.  Follow Jackson Avenue for 1.4 miles to the 3rd stop sign and the junction with Mechanic Street.  Turn left onto Mechanic Street, and at the first traffic light (by the Country Fair gas station), turn right onto West Washington Street (PA Rt. 346 West).  Proceed on West Washington Street for 1.5 miles to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where you will enter campus on the left.  Campus signage will direct you to the appropriate building.

NOTE:  Please check our website at www.upb.pitt.edu for any updates to these directions as construction progresses.
